Water Mitigation – Why It Matters
7/5/2024 (Permalink)
Damage from water can occur from many sources. Some of the most common are flooding, leaking or broken pipes or plumbing, backed up sewer lines, and roof leaks. Regardless of the source, in every case, mitigation is the crucial step for long-term protection of your home or business. Our team of professionals at SERVPRO® of Jackson Hole are trained to respond to all types of water damage, bringing in the right equipment to properly extract any standing water and then dry the structure.
What Exactly Is Mitigation?
Water mitigation includes taking immediate action to limit additional damage to the property. Our team will assess the situation, clearing the area of personal property and ensuring the source is stopped. While we are extracting any standing water, our team will remove flooring or carpeting plus take photographs for insurance claims. We’ll further perform testing of walls and floors to determine saturation levels. If any building materials are too damaged to save, we’ll carefully remove them in preparation for drying.
Using a combination of advanced air-moving equipment and commercial dehumidification systems, the SERVPRO of Jackson Hole team will thoroughly dry the area. This process can be lengthy, depending on the size of the loss. SERVPRO employees will monitor the drying process over the following days, adjusting equipment as needed to ensure the drying is complete.
What Comes Next?
After the area has been completely dried out, we will clean and sanitize the area. This is an important step as dirty water can leave contaminants on surfaces. During this phase, we remove odors, and if necessary, treat the area with antimicrobials, to prevent mold growth.
Once we’ve completed the mitigation process, the mitigation team hands the job over to the reconstruction team for restoration. No matter how big the job is, our professional will bring the SERVPRO, Like it never even happened® brand promise to life.
